Here in the UK, there is a legal requirement that a child must be educated.  That doesn’t mean that they have to go to school.  You are able to ‘homeschool’ your child and you don’t have to follow the National Curriculum either.  However, your child must receive a full time education from the age of 5. 

You need to try to do something every day.  Doing something every day doesn’t mean that your child has to be sat down reading a book all day or slaving their way through a textbook full of mathematical problems.  There are lots of ways you can engage their interest without them really knowing they are ‘working’. 

I firmly believe in the saying:  Failure to prepare is preparing to fail.  I also say that preparing your child for 11+ success is like building a house: you must dig out and prepare the foundations first before you can start laying the bricks otherwise the house will crumble and eventually fall down.
